The purpose of ONSA is to represent the
Neighborhood Store Industry in the following ways:

• To support legislation and regulatory activity which will benefit the retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers and brokers in our industry;

• To oppose legislation and regulatory activity which is not beneficial to the industry;

• To increase awareness of new laws and regulations affecting the industry, and to help our members maintain compliance with the law;

• To provide educational materials for our members about how to comply with laws and regulations, and why their compliance is necessary;

• To work with government at all levels to address pressing issues which involve our industry and society at-large, such as youth smoking and underage access to alcohol;

• To research and organize activities and programs beneficial to members, such as group health, liability, and worker’s compensation insurance, industry-specific educational programs and seminars, and other trade-related functions and programs;

• To promote the numerous positive factors of our industry, including contributions to Oregon’s economic activity and quality of life, our positions as significant employers and taxpayers, and our members’ supportive involvement in our neighborhoods and communities.

• ONSA is organized and incorporated in the State of Oregon as an Oregon non-profit corporation, and will apply to the Internal Revenue Service for recognition as a tax exempt 501c(6) organization. We also are in the process of forming a Political Action Committee (PAC).
